Space for further growth: Phoenix Testlab builds a new test laboratory

Phoenix Testlab GmbH, the accredited and independent testing and certification institute, will set up another test laboratory at its Blomberg site. This additional testing capacity will ensure continued success for the German company and create space for further growth. The building work for the new addition was started mid-May and is expected to be completed in October 2006.

The laboratory is about 45 meters long, 11 meters wide, and 8 meters high, providing an additional 950 square meters of office and laboratory space on two floors. The first floor provides space for test equipment, while offices for test engineers and meeting rooms are planned for the second floor. The total costs for the building project are around 800 thousand euros.

The extension of laboratory capacity will include test stands and equipment as well as further new testing facilities for assessing the quality and service life of products.

This extension is the third major building project since the company was founded in 1994. In 1996 the first extension to the test center was completed, which included new test stations and two anechoic chambers. This was followed in 2004 by the addition of an environmental simulation laboratory, which offers testing facilities primarily for vehicle industry suppliers.

At present, Phoenix Testlab GmbH employs around 60 people. As an independent testing and certification institute, it is active globally in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility, the testing and certification of radio systems, environmental tests, and electrical device safety tests. The laboratories have been accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.
