Phoenix Testlab celebrates its 20th anniversary

20 years of experience in testing

Phoenix Testlab, and independent test laboratory and certifying body founded in 1994 is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The company located in Blomberg, Westphalia currently employs around 150 people and has had its own representation in China since 2011.

Shortly after the laws on electromagnetic compatibility of equipment (EMVG) came into force, the company started off with four employees under the name of Phoenix EMV-Test GmbH as an accredited laboratory for testing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Today the company has become a center of expertise with its own laboratory facilities for environmental simulation and also conducts tests for EMC, electrical device safety, batteries and radio products.

An interdisciplinary team at Phoenix Testlab handles virtually all relevant testing services at one location for the benefit of the customer. To round off the service portfolio even more, Phoenix Testlab 1998 extended its services with international approval management. The company is now the largest Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB) outside of the USA for product approval with radio technology for the US market.

7,000 square meters of space is available to test engineers for conducting a variety of tests for their customers and this also includes the automotive, industry, shipbuilding, railway, aerospace sectors. During 2005, Phoenix Testlab started testing of Lithium-Ion batteries for E-Mobility. In order to expand this future-oriented business sector in 2011, the institute was one of the first laboratories to open its own, highly modern battery testing center for cells, modules and complete systems and is now one of the leading suppliers of testing facilities in the E-Mobility sector.

Despite rapid growth and success, Dr. Holger Altmaier, Executive Vice President of Phoenix Testlab remains modest: "We owe our success to the trust our customers put into us and our strong customer focus. A large number of customers have remained loyal to us over many years and have followed and even contributed to the development of our laboratories. Our employees are not only familiar with the needs of our customers but also enliven our service concept with a spirit of enterprise and a great deal of personal initiative and commitment."
