ETSI EN 300 328 V1.8.1 - New requirements for radio components in the 2.4 GHz band (WLAN, Bluetooth®, and ZigBee)

ETSI EN 300 328 V1.8.1

In order to improve the coexistence of various radio systems in this frequency band, standard ETSI EN 300 328 has been completely revised and extended. The transition period ends on December 31, 2014.

Who does this affect?
All manufacturers and importers whose products fall within the scope of standard ETSI EN 300 328. This includes, for example, products that use radio technologies such as WLAN, Bluetooth®, and ZigBee.

What are the changes to ETSI EN 300 328?
Existing scenarios have been adapted and new, special tests have been introduced.

Key features of the new standard include:

  • Modifications to numerous standard test procedures
  • Introduction of new, special test procedures
  • New requirements for frequency hopping and non-hopping
  • Devices with a transmission power of less than 10 mW or medium utilization factor of less than 10% do not have to be adaptive, but meet new requirements

By when should the standard be applied?
The standard has been completely revised and published as Version 1.8.1. The changes are valid from January 1, 2015.
The transition period ends in December 2014.
