Automotive Technology - Environmental Simulation

For 10 years, Phoenix Testlab has been offering qualification tests as an approved service provider. Phoenix Testlab's approach is to completely implement manufacturer specifications as well as the required standards.

Testing requirements for the automotive area have been implemented continuously for specific manufacturers since 1997. Renowned component and system manufacturers from the automotive suppliers' industry regularly make use of our test services.

Phoenix Testlab supports you with qualification expertise and testing services, from the product idea or initial model stage right through to the production-ready product.

Accreditation/Certification

Accreditation: DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 / DIN EN 45011
Certification: DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 14001

Relevant standards and specifications include

Motor vehicle manufacturers' specifications:

  • GM Group (eg. GMW 3172)
  • VW Group (eg. VW 80101)
  • BMW (eg. GS 95003-X)
  • Ford Group
  • Daimler Chrysler
  • Renault
  • PSA

National and international standards:

  • DIN EN 60068-2-X series (General environmental simulatios)
  • DIN 75220 (Ageing of motor vehicle components, sun simulation systems)
  • DIN 40050-9 (Road vehicles, IP protection types)

Laboratory equipment

  • Two electrodynamic vibration systems with
superimposed climates (33.4 kN and 55 kN)
  • Three electrodynamic vibration systems with
superimposed temperatures (55 kN up to 105 kN)
  • Electrodynamic vibration systems at an ambient temperature (21 kN)
  • Temperature and climatic chambers in combination
with sunlight simulation: 0.5 m³ up to 19 m³,
    rate of change 1-10 K/min.
  • Shock chambers: air-air, option with defined climate:
0.1 m³ up to 7 m³
  • Three salt mist chambers: 0.5 m³; 1 m³ and 11 m³
  • Dust and spray water chambers (IP code): 0.5 m³ up to
    11 m³
  • Two 4 K contaminant gas chambers
  • Flammability cabinet
  • Creeping current tester
  • High voltage, protective conductor and leakage
    current tester
  • Monitoring systems for controlling and monitoring
    of test speciments
      - Contact monitoring on several channels in the
        micro-second range
      - Operation devices, suitable for use in temperature
        and climate chambers
      - Electronic loads etc.

Monitoring Systems

At Phoenix Testlab,  the term "monitoring systems" embraces electrical, pneumatic and mechanical control and monitoring systems for test specimens.

Customer-specific applications are among our most frequently demanded tasks. In this area, Phoenix Testlab uses proven technologies and methods. Depending on the tasks, the systems are designed for vibration tests under temperature and climatic conditions, or for pure temperature-change tests.

Monitoring instruments are selected in close collaboration with our customers. Within very short times, testing of actuating devices for locking systems (window lifter components), electrical load-change tests for high-current consumers and many other tests may be implemented.
